Dr. Misha Velthuis is a lecturer in the Sciences and tutor at AUC. He joined AUC in August 2022.

He teaches System Earth, Theme Course: Sustainable Development, Theme Course: Climate and Energy and Theme: Energy, Climate & Sustainability: Case Study.

Misha holds a PhD in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, a Master's degree in International Relations from the University of Amsterdam, and a Bachelor's degree in Physical Geography, also from the University of Amsterdam. For his PhD, he collected stories about the growth of modern retail chains in Mumbai and their attempt to bypass the 'traditional middle-man'.

For several years, Misha worked as a teacher at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Amsterdam, which provided him with the opportunity to pursue and develop his interests in both Science (Physical Geography, System Modelling) and Social Science (Political Economy, Philosophy of Science, Environmental Economics).

Misha's current interests range from Earth/Environmental Sciences and statistics/modelling to the field of Science and Technologies and its focus on the politics of knowledge.
