Mirjam van Zuiden has been coordinating the course Human Stress Research at AUC since 2019, after having been a guest lecturer in this course since 2015.

Her primary appointment is at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers. As an assistant professor at the Psychiatry Department (location AMC), her research focuses on neurobiological, psychological and cognitive mechanisms underlying differential vulnerability for adverse mental health outcomes after exposure to traumatic stress. Her ultimate goal is to eventually apply this knowledge in precision medicine and target preventive interventions to recently traumatised individuals detected to be at risk for adverse mental health outcomes.
