Scott teaches Anthropologies of Community, Big Questions in the Senses, Big Questions in Consciousness, and Qualitative Research Methods. In Spring 2025, Scott completed his Senior Teaching Qualification (SKO) concerning Transdisciplinary and Nature-Inclusive Education. Scott is also a tutor (academic advisor).  

Scott has a Combined Honours degree in Sociology, Psychology and Media Studies, a Master’s degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology (cum laude), and a PhD in Cultural Anthropology (VU Amsterdam, 2018). Scott’s PhD focused on the Falun Gong movement in Hong Kong and New York. In his PhD, he unpacks how, through embodied practice, self-discipline and media, Chinese and non-Chinese practitioners are incorporated into the movement and engage in campaigns of contestation with the Chinese state.

Scott’s expertise and research interests include the anthropology of religion, embodiment, posthumanism, nature-based learning and future studies.
