Through keynotes, panels and open discussions, participants explored how meaningful reading can enrich leadership, pedagogy and human development in an era marked by rapid change and emerging technologies. Much of the conversation focused on the practical and philosophical dimensions of reading for purpose and on how these practices can support well-being and reflective thinking within higher education. The meeting provided a rare space for deep, cross-disciplinary dialogue and generated valuable input for the forthcoming companion volume.
The Expert Meeting is part of the broader REMAP project. REMAP promotes meaningful reading as a way to help students find purpose and meet their intellectual, emotional, social and civic needs. The project involves five partner institutions to develop an evidence-based course, an open-access manual and a teacher training guide, all designed to enhance inclusive and supportive learning environments.
Participants and organisers alike emphasised the sense of community and shared purpose that shaped the meeting. Thanks were extended to REMAP partners, ECOLAS collaborators and speakers whose contributions made the event rich in insight and inspiration.
The gathering closed with a collective commitment to continue reading for meaning, purpose and transformation, ensuring that the momentum of the Expert Meeting carries into the next stages of the REMAP project.
