Luis most recently finished his PhD at the University of Groningen. Before that, he obtained a joint Master's degree in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling from the University of Groningen and the University of Valencia (Spain). In 2015, he received his BSc in Chemistry from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. 

Luis Suarez joined AUC in July 2021 as a lecturer in the Sciences major and also as a tutor. Besides his teaching experience in the Netherlands, he was part of the team that trained high school students for the National Mexican Chemistry Olympiad from 2012 to 2015. 

His main research areas focus on applying computational techniques and theoretical methods to the finding of novel materials that can improve the efficiency of current solar cells.
