Marco de Waard teaches literary studies and cultural analysis at AUC.
Marco de Waard

Among his recent courses are: Cultural Memory Studies, Poetics of Protest, and Methods in the Humanities 1 and 2. He is also a research fellow at the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA), where he writes at the intersection of cultural analysis, literary and film studies, and political and critical theory. In doing so he combines a special interest in questions of cultural memory and political imagination with a focus on contemporary literature and film. He has essays out or forthcoming in journals including Parallax, Comparative Critical Studies, and the Journal of Aesthetics & Culture.

Marco de Waard studied English and comparative literature at the Universities of Amsterdam and Sheffield and holds a PhD in intellectual history from the European University Institute, Florence. He joined AUC in 2009 as a lecturer and tutor, and has since served as Acting Head of Studies for the Humanities, as a member of the Board of Examiners, and as Faculty Development Coordinator. Before coming to AUC, he taught at Utrecht University and at the University of Amsterdam. In 2010 he received the AUC Teacher of the Year Award.
