Daan van Schalkwijk is a tutor at AUC and teaches in the theme course "Introduction to Health and Well-being" as well as coordinating the third-year theme course “Wicked Challenges in Health”.

He supervises student research in the area of student mental health and is working on a popular book called “WIN WIN WIN” together with Prof. Lans Bovenberg and Manon Blanke as a part of the educational and popularising branch of the “Moral Markets” project. He received his MSc in theoretical biology from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. After graduating, he completed his PhD project at Leiden University and TNO on computational modeling of lipoprotein metabolism. Next to his biological career, Daan is the director of Leidenhoven College, a small-scale collegiate residence hall in Amsterdam, and has a long-standing interest in the philosophy of science, philosophical anthropology, and ethics.
