Amsterdam University College (AUC) has once again been designated as a 'Top-Rated Programme' in the latest Keuzegids rankings. The Keuzegids, known for its independent assessment of universities across the Netherlands, has recognised AUC in multiple categories including content of the programme, quality of lecturers, examination style and the atmosphere on campus.

AUC in Keuzegids 2024

The Keuzegids Universiteiten ranks study programmes based on scores in various categories such as programme content, quality of teaching, assessments, drop-out rates and more. This ranking results in an index on a scale from 0 to 100. Study programmes ranking 75 or higher qualify for the 'Top-Rated Programme' designation.

With an overall score of 81 in 2024, AUC ranks among the best study programmes in the Netherlands. AUC was ranked particularly highly when considering the content of the academic programme, quality of lecturers, the assessment style, and the atmosphere on campus.

Significance of “Top-Rated Programme” designation

Bachelor's programmes with this designation represent the top university programmes according to the guide. The seal is meaningful because the Keuzegids is one of the only independent consumer guides to compare the quality of all national degree programmes in the Netherlands. This means that independent and diverse groups of both students and experts have been asked to give their opinions about many aspects of university life, from faculty to facilities and more.

Ranking methodology and data sources

The Keuzegids rankings use an expansive methodology, drawing on both the national Studiekeuzedatabase and incorporating data from various external sources. These include student opinions gathered from the Nationale Student Survey (Nationale studentenenquete, NSE) 2023, assessments by expert panels such as the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO), and reports from panels consulted by the NVAO. The evaluation balances success-related indicators and personal opinions.

Using the results

The “Top-Rated Programme” designation underscores AUC’s commitment to providing students with an engaging and evolving academic programme that can address the biggest challenges facing science and society today. The performance in the Keuzegids acts as a reflection of how students, staff and education professionals feel about the programme offered, what is successful, and where there is room for improvement in the coming years.
