The AUC Scholarship Fund currently offers two types of scholarships: ASF Scholarships and Talent Fellowships. Here you can find more information about ASF Scholarships.
  • Application form for ASF Scholarships

Applications are currently closed for new ASF scholarships, as all funding has been awarded for 2025-2026. Applications are scheduled to re-open in October 2026, and more details will be published then.

  • Eligibility criteria

ASF Scholarships are only awarded to AUC students. Learn how to apply to AUC. Details on other eligibility criteria for new ASF Scholarships will be published when applications reopen (scheduled for October 2026).

For AUC students already receiving an ASF Scholarship, see Conditions for maintaining an ASF Scholarship.

  • Application deadlines, selection procedure and timeline

Applications are currently closed for new ASF scholarships, as all funding has been awarded for 2025-2026. Applications are scheduled to re-open in October 2026, and more details will be published then.

  • Selection criteria and priorities

ASF Scholarships are currently awarded based on merit and financial need. Details on the selection criteria and priorities for awarding new ASF scholarships will be published when applications re-open (scheduled for October 2026).

  • Scholarship amounts and payment

    Scholarship amounts

There are currently two levels of ASF Scholarship being paid:

    • Standard: EUR 4000 (for Dutch and international students)
    • Full-ride: EUR 26000 (for “non-EEA” students only*)

*”Non-EEA” refers to those students who will pay the non-statutory tuition fee for AUC (instellingscollegegeld). These are usually students from non-EEA countries

    Payment of ASF Scholarships

ASF Scholarships are paid directly to the students in 10 instalments per year (starting in mid-September, one instalment per month, no payments in July and August).  Scholarship recipients are responsible for paying their own AUC tuition fees; the ASF does not pay their tuition fees for them.

  • Conditions for maintaining an ASF Scholarship

These are the conditions for maintaining an ASF Scholarship that has already been awarded. When applications reopen, different conditions may apply to the new scholarships. The conditions for receiving and maintaining the new scholarships will be published and explained when the application form opens (scheduled for October 2026).

We have high expectations of ASF Scholarship holders. Students who are currently receiving an ASF Scholarship are expected to maintain good academic standing, with good grades and no credit deficit. They are evaluated after one year of study at AUC, and the ASF Scholarship is awarded automatically for another year if they:

    • have successfully passed their first year (positive BSA decision or dispensation)
    • are maintaining a GPA of at least 7.0 or above (and preferably with a GPA > 8.0)
    • can prove that their basis for financial need has not changed. Their family income has to be below a certain amount in order for them to continue to receive an ASF Scholarship. The family income is defined as the total annual income before tax deductions of both parents/guardians. This includes non-taxable income such as benefits or pensions. If the student is not Dutch and not eligible for Dutch student finance (studiefinanciering), the family income threshold is EUR 77,000. If the student is Dutch and/or eligible for Dutch student finance (studiefinanciering), the additional grant from DUO is used to measure the family income, and they must receive or be eligible for the maximum additional grant (aanvullende beurs).

At the end of their second year, they are evaluated again in a similar fashion. Their ASF Scholarship is awarded automatically for another year if they:

    • are on track to graduate within three years/six semesters in total
    • are maintaining a GPA of at least 7.0 or above (and preferably with a GPA > 8.0)
    • can prove that their basis for financial need has not changed

If they are not meeting one or more of these conditions at the end of their first or second year, they are offered an opportunity to submit a motivated request for renewal in which they can explain any extenuating circumstances. Their AUC tutor will also be contacted and their advice/recommendation sought before a decision on renewal is taken. No renewal is possible in case of a negative BSA decision.

    Other important conditions

    • ASF Scholarships are not, in principle, awarded for more than three years/six semesters in total. If a scholarship recipient does not graduate within three years, they are offered an opportunity to submit a motivated request for an extension of the scholarship for a seventh semester, but there is no guarantee that this can be granted.
    • If a scholarship recipient decides to, or has to, end their studies at AUC without graduating, the ASF Scholarship will be terminated. The student will be expected to reimburse the AUC Scholarship Fund in full for the ASF Scholarship payments they have already received.
    • ASF Scholarship holders are important ambassadors for AUC and the Scholarship Fund. They are expected to participate in activities with ASF sponsors and other AUC contacts, including the AUC alumni network, and to cooperate in the promotion of the ASF. If they unreasonably refuse to participate in such activities, this can put the continuation of their ASF Scholarship at risk.
