Emma Cohen de Lara (PhD, University of Notre Dame) is senior lecturer in political theory and research fellow at the Amsterdam Institute of Social Science Research (www.aissr.nl). Before coming to AUC, she taught political theory at the University of Vermont and at VU University Amsterdam. Emma has won several teaching awards at the University of Notre Dame and was shortlisted as teacher of the year in the social sciences at VU Amsterdam. At AUC, Emma teaches Classical and Modern Political Thought and Ancient Philosophical Texts.
She is also a tutor and she serves as the chair of the Works Council AUC. Emma’s current research interests focuses on Aristotle’s political realism, and on liberal education.
