There are three application deadlines to apply to AUC. You must apply for one deadline and ensure all required actions are completed within that timeline:

• Early-bird deadline: 1 December 2026
• Regular deadline: 1 February 2027
• Late deadline: 1 May 2027 (Note: the late round will only open if places remain after the earlier rounds)

To be eligible for admission, you will generally need:

• A Dutch VWO diploma, or an international secondary school qualification equivalent to the VWO (pre-university) standard
• Sufficient mathematics proficiency corresponding to your intended major
• Demonstrated English language proficiency

The first step in the application process is submitting an enrolment request in Studielink. Studielink is the national online registration system for students who wish to pursue a degree programme at a Dutch university. 

Activate your DigiD (before starting in Studielink)

DigiD (Digital Identification) is an online ID system that works with a username and password. It provides access to government administration websites.

• Students who do not live in the Netherlands can use Studielink without DigiD. You will need a digital copy of your passport or ID personal data page to create your Studielink account. Copies of expired documents are accepted when creating your account.
• Students who currently live in the Netherlands will need DigiD to use Studielink. Make sure you have a working DigiD in time. Check if you still remember your password or apply for a new one well in advance of the application deadline for your programme.

How to submit your enrolment request in Studielink 

1. Log in: After activating your DigiD, go to Studielink and log in or create an account.
2. Select institution: Choose University of Amsterdam as your institution.
3. Select programme: Search for and select “Liberal Arts and Sciences - joint degree UvA-VU”
4. In the next step, choose the major you’re applying for: In the Institutional Questions section, select the major you wish to apply for (Sciences, Social Sciences, or Humanities). Please note that you can only select and apply for one major.
5. Submit: Confirm and submit your request for enrolment.

Please note: As this administrative step often takes longer than you might expect, we advise you to take this step early and no later than one week before the deadline for which you are applying. 

Why your choice of major matters
Your chosen major determines the mathematics requirements you’ll need to meet for admission (these differ per major). Additionally, your application is valid only for the selected major and indicated start date, and your major cannot be changed during the application process. Only one application to the programme is permitted per application cycle.

Within 72 hours of submitting your request in Studielink, you will receive an automated email from the University of Amsterdam containing your UvAnetID (your university account username) and instructions on how to activate it.

• If you have previously applied to the UvA and already possess an active UvAnetID, you should use your existing credentials to log in.
• You should activate your UvAnetID immediately, as it is required to access the online application portal (SIS)

After registering in Studielink, you will receive an email from the University of Amsterdam with an invitation to our online application system. This may take up to 48 hours.

Once your UvAnetID is active, log in to SIS (Student Information System), the University of Amsterdam's online student portal, at sis.uva.nl and navigate to the Admissions section to begin your application to AUC. SIS is the portal where you complete your application file, track your application status and view your enrolment checklist.

Once you submit your application in SIS, our admissions team will conduct a preliminary check to make sure all required documents are included. Once your completed application is submitted, our Admissions Committee will evaluate your file. You can see the status of your application by logging into sis.uva.nl and looking under the tile "My applications".

Decisions are released according to the deadline for which you applied:

• Early-bird deadline: Notification before 10 February 2027
• Regular deadline: Notification before 10 April 2027
• Late deadline: Notification before 10 June 2027

You will receive your decision on admission by email. You will also be able to see the decision in SIS under “My Applications”.

If your application is successful, you will receive an offer of admission. When you receive your offer, you will be notified by email with instructions on how to respond to your offer in SIS. If you do not accept or decline your offer within 14 days, your application will be closed and your enrolment request cancelled.

Deferrals
AUC does not offer deferrals. If you wish to apply for a future academic year, you must submit a new enrolment request in Studielink and reapply, meeting all deadlines, admission criteria and entry requirements for that application cycle.

As a residential college, AUC requires all students to live on campus for the full three years of their study. After accepting your offer, we will send you instructions on selecting a room and arranging payments related to housing. You can find the full timelines on our Accepted Students page. Keep in mind that your first financial commitment to AUC will be paying the residential campus fee in May (675 EUR). 

Please note: Late-deadline applicants follow a separate timeline. You are still guaranteed a room, but you will choose from available options closer to the start of the year rather than joining the main allocation process.

To fulfil the conditions of your offer, you must ensure that official versions of all requested documents are received on time. If the documents are not in English, Dutch, French or German, please be sure that they are accompanied by an official translation.

• The deadline for submitting the results of OMPT tests (if applicable) and English language exams (if applicable) is 1 July. 
• All other documents, including secondary school diplomas and transcripts, must be submitted to the Admissions Office by 15 July.

Once you have accepted and fulfilled the conditions of your offer, you can focus on arranging other practical matters to prepare for the start of your academic journey. 

Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa or residence permit. If so, you will only be invited to apply for a visa/residence permit by the UvA Immigration Office after you have confirmed your participation in the AUC programme.

Information regarding VU Amsterdam
As AUC is a joint degree, your completed enrolment status at UvA will be transmitted directly to VU Amsterdam once fully processed. You do not need to submit a second application or perform separate administrative registrations with VU. You will receive information on how to activate your VU student accounts in September.
