A diverse learning community

AUC is a selective programme and aims to admit up to 300 students each year. We bring together students with different academic interests, experiences and diverse perspectives. We welcome applications from students in the Netherlands and around the world, and are committed to building a diverse, inclusive community where students learn with and from one another.

Applying to AUC

Before you begin your application, take time to explore the programme, choose the major that best suits your interests and check whether you meet the admission requirements. You can apply for one of three majors: Sciences, Social Sciences or Humanities.

To be considered for admission, you will generally need:

• a Dutch VWO diploma or an equivalent secondary school diploma
• the required level of English language proficiency
• the required level of mathematics for your chosen major
• a clear motivation to study Liberal Arts and Sciences at AUC
• an interest in contributing to our academic and residential community

When you are ready, you will start your application in Studielink, the Dutch national registration system for higher education. You will then complete and submit your application in SIS via the University of Amsterdam’s online application portal.

How we assess your application

We know that your academic profile is more than a list of grades. Our Admissions Committee considers each complete application carefully, looking at your academic performance alongside your interests, motivation and readiness for an intensive, broad Liberal Arts and Sciences programme.
