Launched by a group of AUC graduates in 2014, Cycleswap was a digital platform that matched local residents willing to rent their bike with visitors, tourists and backpackers in Amsterdam looking for a more affordable option than major bike shops. Embracing the spirit and principles of the sharing economy, the group had managed to create a business that embraces modern technology while creating opportunities from a very local situation. In 2016, Cycleswap was bought by American company Spinlister. Offering a similar service mainly in Berlin, Spinlister was looking to expand to the Dutch market and found Cycleswap the perfect opportunity.
