This EDI took the form of an Undergraduate Research Project (URP) which provided research opportunities to a group of ten AUC students in the areas of theoretical physics, mathematical physics and/or philosophy.
This project was offered as a research supplement to courses in science and humanities that students take at AUC. The project aims to prepare students for Capstone work in physics, applied mathematics or philosophy, and to better prepare them for Master's degree programme applications. While completing the project, students had the opportunity to gain first-hand research experience and develop research skills in theoretical/mathematical physics or in philosophy. They then participated in the three-day seminar Science and Society: Defining What Is Human’in London and Oxford from 3 to 5 January 2019. Five students gave two half-hour presentations at the conference on their research topics.
