Olaf Tans teaches the courses Legal & Social Philosophy and Law & Society at AUC.
He holds a PhD in Governance Studies from Twente University, and Master's degrees in Political Science and Legal Philosophy from the University of Groningen. Before joining AUC he was a Postdoc at the University of Amsterdam, focusing on (European) constitutionalism and democracy, and Assistant Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His current research interests include discourse theory, deliberative citizenship, evolution of law and morality, agonism, constitutionalism, and the function of fictions and role-play in the public sphere.
