Suzanne Aalberse (PhD, University of Amsterdam) teaches Linguistics at AUC. She is Assistant Professor at the department of Dutch linguistics at the University of Amsterdam. She studied at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Utrecht University and Leiden University. Her main interests are language variation and change, stability in language, language contact, inflectional morphology, (bilingual) language acquisition (Chinese heritage languages in particular) and the relationship between acquisition processes and (non)-change. She wrote a PhD on the interaction between formal and social factors in the loss of second person marking in Dutch under supervision of Fred Weerman and she was part of the ERC project ‘Traces of Contact’ led by Pieter Muysken.
