Emma Cohen de Lara (PhD, University of Notre Dame) is a senior lecturer in political theory and research fellow at the Amsterdam Institute of Social Science Research (www.aissr.nl).

At AUC, Emma teaches Classical and Modern Political Thought and Ancient Philosophical Texts, and is also a tutor. Emma’s current research interests focus on ancient philosophy, intellectual friendship and liberal education. Before coming to AUC, she taught political theory at the University of Vermont and at VU Amsterdam. Emma won several teaching awards at the University of Notre Dame and was shortlisted as teacher of the year in the social sciences at VU Amsterdam. She is co-editor of Back to the Core.
