Chris Elbers teaches the course Advanced Macroeconomics at AUC. He is holder of the Desmond Tutu Chair for Youth, Sports, and Reconciliation in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (FEWEB-VU). He studied Econometrics and Mathematical Economics at the University of Amsterdam and received a PhD from the Vrije Universiteit. Chris has collaborated with researchers from (a.o.) Yale University, the University of California at Berkeley, Cape Town University, Stellenbosch University, Oxford University (UK), the World Bank, Unicef and the ILO. His research focus is on impact evaluation, measurement and small-area estimation of poverty and inequality, and the economics of growth and risk. Chris is director of the Amsterdam Institute for International Development, member of the board of the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development, member of the scientific advisory board of the Amsterdam Health and Technology Institute, and fellow of the Tinbergen Institute and the European Union Development Network.
