Dr. Chiara Bozzacchi is the coordinator and teacher of the course Emphatic Brain at AUC. She is currently completing a new project on social cognition at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience. Funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie individual fellowship, her work involved applying her expertise on motor preparation to the study of social interaction, thereby combining EEG, fMRI and eye-tracking techniques.
As an undergraduate, Bozzacchi participated in the Erasmus exchange programme and spent eight months at the University of Tübingen, Germany. She then went on to complete her PhD abroad at the University of California, San Diego. There, she spent 12 months as a Fulbright visiting researcher at the ERP Lab headed by Professor Steve Hillyard. In the final year of her postdoctoral research, she initiated a collaboration with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, working in the lab with Prof. dr. Jeroen Smeets and Dr. Eli Brenner, where she studied the contribution of visual feedback to grasping movement.
