He teaches Anthropologies of Community, and is currently developing two flagship Interdisciplinary courses: Big Questions in the Senses, and Big Questions in Consciousness, both of which he will co-teach in Spring 2022. Scott is also a tutor (academic advisor) and assessor for Community Projects and Internships.

Scott has a Combined Honors degree in Sociology, Psychology and Media Studies, a Master’s degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology (cum laude), and a PhD in Cultural Anthropology (VU Amsterdam 2018). Scott’s PhD focuses on the Falun Gong movement in Hong Kong and New York. In his PhD, he unpacks how, through embodied practice, self-discipline and media, Chinese and non-Chinese practitioners are incorporated into the movement and campaigns of contestation with the Chinese state.

Scott’s expertise and research interests include anthropology, China, religion, embodiment, media, the senses, consciousness, posthumanism, shamanism and future studies.
