Research exploring democratic education and AI property rights

Both graduates conducted their research as part of the Capstone, AUC's final, independent Bachelor's research project in which students integrate and apply what they have learned across their major.

Emmy van Ingen's Capstone, Get Involved, Don't Neglect Your Democratic Means: Dutch Civics Teachers' Perspectives on Teaching for Democracy, and fellow graduate Ro van Goor's A(I) the Owner: A Lockean Justification of Agentic AI Private Property, were among 65 projects selected from 17 European countries.

Presenting their research at the European Parliament

In November 2026, the selected graduates will showcase their work through academic posters at the European Parliament in Brussels. During the poster session on 10 November, they will discuss their findings with Members of the European Parliament, fellow participants and invited guests. The exhibition, running from 9 to 13 November, showcases the diversity of European undergraduate research and innovative approaches to issues that matter to students and society.

About “Posters in Brussels”

“Posters in Brussels” is an Erasmus+ project that facilitates conversations between European undergraduate researchers and policymakers, both at the national level (in the parliaments of partner countries) and at the European level in Brussels. A consortium of five European universities coordinates the project:

• University of Vienna, Austria
• University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg
• LCC International University, Lithuania

Within this framework, graduates from many disciplines are invited to translate their research into accessible poster presentations, engaging policymakers and guests in dialogue about their findings.
