Until March 2016, Ms. Tellegen was the CEO of the DOEN Foundation, a charity that uses the annual proceeds it receives from three Dutch Charitable Lotteries (Postcode Lottery, BankGiro Lottery and Friends Lottery) to support committed entrepreneurs working on sustainable, cultural and socially-engaged initiatives.
She started her career at the African Studies Centre where she worked as a researcher and wrote her PhD thesis on the development of rural enterprises in Malawi. From 2001 until 2007, she was the managing director of Wemos, an advocacy organisation working on international health issues.
Since early 2018, Ms. Tellegen has been a member, and since May 2019 Chair, of the Supervisory Board of De Kleine Komedie, a beautiful small theatre in Amsterdam. She is also a passionate singer and sings in a choir named Slavuj. Every other year, Slavuj goes on tour and performs in countries such as Bulgaria, Bosnia and Georgia. In April and May 2019, Slavuj gave a number of concerts in Armenia.
The mission of the Amsterdam Economic Board is to sustainably enhance the prosperity and well-being of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. To achieve this they work together with the business world, governmental agencies and knowledge institutes, focusing on collaboration, innovation and growth. The board focuses on six urban challenges: circular economy, energy, mobility, health, digital connectivity and jobs of the future.
The ASF is excited to welcome its newest Board Member and looks forward to continuing to strive for more inclusive education.
