6 June 2016
The official language of the Open Day is English, but Arabic, Farsi and Tigrinya speaking students will be available to translate if needed. Refugees who would like to attend this Open Day can request a free public transport card at the COA.
The day programme will include information sessions on studying and working in the Netherlands; discussing rules and regulations for student refugees and degree-holding refugees and workshops on intercultural communication, presentation and networking skills and learning the basics of the Dutch language.
Prior to the start of the Open Day, from 10.30-12.30, a meeting titled “Opportunities and Challenges in the Netherlands: Education and Employment” will be organised for new and talented Eritrean refugees in the Roeterseiland complex next to CREA.
The aim is to bring together and boost those who have the ability, skills and motivation, but need guidance and encouragement to become positive and productive members of society. During the workshop, the first recipients of the Isahac Teweldemedhin Scholarship for Liberal Arts and Sciences Education will also be announced. The scholarship recipients will begin their studies at Amsterdam University College (AUC) beginning next year.
Those who are interested in attending this meeting should register by sending an email to the address below.
