Rwanda 25 years later
The genocide and post-conflict reconstruction and recovery
Exactly 25 years ago, the world witnessed the tragedy of the Rwandan genocide where 800,000 people were killed in the span of only 3 months. 50 years after the establishment of the United Nations, which vowed “to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war”, the international community stood quietly by and did not intervene. To help us commemorate this tragedy, H.E. Mr. Jean Pierre Karabaranga, the Rwandan Ambassador to the Netherlands, will talk about the events surrounding the genocide, post-conflict reconstruction and recovery, and his vision for a better future for the generations to come.
H.E. Mr. Jean Pierre Karabaranga is the current Ambassador of Rwanda to the Netherlands
