For applicants who have successfully passed the review stage of the application procedure, they will be invited by email to an Admissions Day at AUC. The Admissions Day allows us to get to know the person behind the application, as well as extend a warm welcome to you and other aspiring prospective AUC students that have reached this stage of the application process.

Programme

Like all universities in the Netherlands, AUC has been taking measures to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). In order to protect the health and safety of our community, we will be offering all applicants a virtual Admissions Day experience where you can meet faculty members of AUC, chat with current students, ask questions to members of our staff and have your individual conversation with one of our academic tutors. 

13.55 - Log in to Digital Platform Zoom

For the AUC Admissions Day, we will be using Zoom, a digital video conferencing platform for both the plenary sessions and Q&A hangout. Be sure to log in, test your camera and audio on your laptop, and get comfortable before the presentations begin. 

14.00 – Introduction

Nora McLeese (Communications Office, AUC) will quickly run through some of the practicalities for the presentations and the agenda for the Admissions Day.

14.05 - Word of welcome 

Prof. Dr. Martin van Hees (Dean, AUC) will welcome you to the virtual AUC Admissions Day and provide you with information about AUC, the institutional vision and activities that will follow.

14.20 – Welcome from the Senior Tutor

Huan Hsu (Senior Tutor, AUC) will discuss the support networks, tutoring systems and important academic matters to consider when starting your studies at Amsterdam University College.

14.40 - What to expect next: admissions decision, enrolment and housing

Kasia Malarek (Admissions Officer), and Marcus Smit (Team Leader Services and Communications) will discuss the rest of the enrolment procedure at AUC. They will address common questions such as when you will hear about your decision on admission, the housing allocation procedure and what you can do over the summer up until Introduction Week. 

15.05 - Q&A with AUC Ambassadors

AUC Student Ambassadors will host and be part of an interactive webinar panel to answer your questions about the experience of being an AUC student. You’ll be free to ask questions about topics such as how they chose AUC, what it's like living in the student residences, what types of clubs and committees are on campus and what social life is like at AUC.

15.30 - Conclusion of Admissions Day plenary and group sessions

20-minute individual conversation

You will receive an invitation to your individual 20-minute conversation with one of AUC’s academic tutors or Heads of Studies. You will be sent the exact date, time and instructions on how to access the video chat by email. This meeting is the final step in the admissions procedure before potentially receiving an offer to AUC.
