In following the policy of the University of Amsterdam (UvA), this event has been cancelled due to recent measures being implemented to prevent the further spreading of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19).
|Start date||3 April 2020|
|End date||5 April 2020|
The UvA (and by extension AUC) is following the measures and recommendations of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the Public Health Service of Amsterdam (GGD). Based on these recommendations, the UvA has implemented a number of policies in order to better protect the health and safety of students and staff. Among these policies is that all events at the University of Amsterdam (and therefore AUC) have been cancelled until at least 29 May 2020.
AUC is a joint programme of VU Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam. In the case of additional measures related to the new Coronavirus, AUC will operationally function under the UvA. For more information about how these new measures may impact teaching, events or other procedures at AUC, please visit uva.nl/coronavirus.
Amsterdam University College will be the host venue for delegates from all over the world when the Amsterdam University College Model United Nations (AUCMUN) Conference takes place from 3-5 April 2020. Organised by an AUCSA student committee, the event provides a platform for university students to interact, debate, create plans of action and form long-lasting friendships in a global city.
AUCMUN is a student-led organisation and committee of the AUC Student Associaiton. Model United Nations (MUN) is a concept that unites young international students in participating in conferences concerning world issues and global affairs in a simulation of the United Nations.
MUN also offers students an opportunity to learn about the different councils and the structure of the UN, as well as improve their skills in debating, teamwork and presenting.
AUCMUN offers a platform for future global leaders looking for the opportunity to become more involved in conflict resolution and diplomacy.
In this year's conference, AUCMUN will simulate twelve committees of the United Nations with debates covering topics ranging from the world water crisis, to HIV/AIDS treatments in prisons, to the colonisation and militarisation of outer space
Besides debating and writing resolutions, delegates are also invited for opportunities to network and mingle.
More information about the conference, including how to register, can be found on the official conference website via the link below.
Please note that this conference is a student initiative. For any questions or comments about the conference, please contact AUCMUN directly here.
