Preparing for Introduction Week

AUC Introduction Week: 30 August-3 September

Before the Introduction Week begins, take a moment to go through the steps and suggestions below in order to be well-prepared for the presentations and activities you'll be participating in. You will receive an email every morning of Introduction Week with information for that day, including links and locations for all the activities.

  • Step 1: Download Zoom

During the Introduction Week, some plenary sessions, meetings or other social activities may involve the use of videoconferencing software Zoom. We suggest that you download the software in advance in order to be ready to participate on Monday. Looking forward, Zoom is also used in the digital learning environment Canvas (where your online course components, assignments and feedback will be posted) so it's good to start getting familiar with this software.

  • Step 2: Download Microsoft Teams

    Using Microsoft Teams

Every student of the University of Amsterdam, including AUC students, has free access to collaboration software Microsoft Teams. A multi-functional tool, Microsoft Teams allows you to chat, work together in various documents, share your screen, make video calls and much more. You can find more information on how to download Microsoft Teams and some tips on how to make the most of the software when working with fellow students.

  • Step 7: Browse the AUC Student Association website

Take the time to get familiar with the AUC Student Association (AUCSA) website. The AUCSA is the heart of social life, clubs, committees and student intiatives that you can get involved in. You'll be getting to know them better during Introduction Week, but you can get a head start in thinking about which committees or initiatives you'll be joining!

  • Step 8: Check the AUC Class of 2024 Facebook group

We've started a private Facebook group for all students starting their studies in September 2021 at AUC. This group will remain active during your three years at AUC. You can use it to introduce yourself to your classmates, ask questions to your peers and stay up to date on things like furniture sales and student-run events. The Amsterdam University College Student Association (AUCSA) is also busy planning activities. You can keep up to date with these activities and get in touch with fellow students by having a look at the Facebook group via the link below. Please note that you have to request to join the Facebook group.

  • Step 10: Ask a student

Starting life at university and getting settled in the student residences may leave you with some practical questions. In order to make your start at AUC as easy as possible, we've arranged for current students to be available to answer your questions via the digital platform Unibuddy. Read their profiles and feel free to ask them a question about life at AUC before your Intro Week starts.
