You can read more about who is eligible and how to apply on the page below.

No longer accepting applications

Please note that the extended deadline of 1 May 2022 for transfer students from Ukraine has now passed. We are no longer accepting applications to start studying at AUC in September 2022. Should you have any questions about the application procedure, please feel free to send an email.

  • Who is eligible for the extended application deadline?

    • Ukrainian nationals and holders of a long-term Ukrainian residence permit AND
    • Are enrolled in an accredited university programme located in Ukraine AND
    • Have completed at least (the equivalent of) 60 EC or one full year of university

As a selective programme, applicants may also be asked to meet AUC's maths and/or English requirements, though there may be leniency considering the extenuating circumstances. Please note that the extended application deadline is not open to those who are in the process of completing secondary school or have only partially completed the first year of their university programme.

  • When is the application deadline?

The application deadline for Ukrainian transfer students was 1 May 2022 to start at AUC in September 2022.

  • What is the procedure for applying for the extended deadline as a transfer student?

Please note that we are no longer accepting applications from Ukrainian transfer students looking to start at AUC in September 2022.

You can start the application procedure by sending an email to You will then be informed of the exact documents or information you’ll need to provide in order to complete your application. Typically, this will include your secondary school diploma and transcripts from your previous university.

If you are unable to provide documentation, you may be asked to provide us with an ION (indication of level of previous education) and add all the information and documents you do have. This ION can be obtained via IDW-Nuffic. If you encounter difficulties with obtaining an English language transcript or other documents, please mention this in your email to AUC's admissions office.

  • When will I hear if I have been accepted?

Typically, you will receive a conditional acceptance prior to 1 June 2022. You will then be informed of any additional steps which may be necessary to take prior to starting at AUC in September 2022.

  • Is there an application fee?

There is no fee for applying to AUC.

  • Is there housing available?

If you receive a conditional acceptance, you are guaranteed a room in the AUC student residences starting 1 August 2022 for a period of three years. However, if necessary, all efforts will be made to see if there are any available rooms that qualifying students can move into as soon as possible.

  • Will I be responsible for paying for tuition fees and housing?

Currently, there are no scholarships or specific funding in place for Ukrainian transfer students to AUC, but there are already funds available for students in need which may apply to you as well

Further plans are being developed for Ukrainian nationals to be eligible for lower statutory fees (the same fee paid by EU/EEA nationals). Moreover, we are in close contact with the AUC Scholarship Fund, University of Amsterdam and VU Amsterdam about possible scholarships, funding options or tuition waivers for Ukrainian students that may become available.

  • Do I need a visa to travel to the Netherlands?

Under the Temporary Protection Directive of the European Union, Ukrainian nationals and long-term residents in Ukraine who fled Ukraine after 24 February 2022 may reside in the Netherlands without having to apply for asylum. Additionally, as with any student who comes to study at the University of Amsterdam (including AUC), the university offers immigration support to all groups who need a residence permit and/or entry visa for the purpose of studying in the Netherlands.

  • Can AUC assist me in travelling to the Netherlands?

At this time, AUC cannot directly provide financial assistance for travelling to the Netherlands. After acceptance, we will do our best to advise on travel to, arrival in, and practical matters of living in the Netherlands.

  • What happens after I submit my application?

AUC's Admissions Committee will assess your application documents. Unlike most other university programmes, AUC is a selective programme. The selection criteria are indicated here and admissions requirements here, but the committee will take extenuating circumstances into account for this group of students.
