Ferdinand, Simon (MRes)
Simon Ferdinand teaches Introduction to Visual Methodologies at AUC. He is an interdisciplinary researcher whose work sits at the intersection of geography and visual culture. Having studied Theatre Studies and taught in History of Art at the University of Warwick, he is now completing a PhD fellowship at the Amsterdam Centre of Globalisation Studies (ACGS) and Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA). The project explores the use of cartography as the formal and thematic substance of artistic production under the title of “Sharp Fantasies: Maps and Modernity in the Visual Arts”. Refereed articles stemming from this research appear in GeoHumanities and Environment and Planning D. Currently, Simon is preparing a conference and edited book entitled “Other Globes: Past and Peripheral Imaginations of the Global”.
