A lecture on cultural analysis

15Nov2017 15:00 - 15:45

On Wednesday, 15 November from 15.00-15.45, Dr. Esther Peeren will visit Amsterdam University College to hold a special lecture on a topic relating to cultural analysis. This lecture is open to the public and will especially be of interest to third-year Humanities students at AUC.

Esther Peeren is Associate Professor of Literary and Cultural Analysis. She is also vice-director of the Amsterdam Centre for Globalisation Studies (ACGS) and vice-director of the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA). With Jeroen de Kloet, she is series editor of Palgrave Studies in Globalization, Culture and Society.

Esther's research focuses on processes of marginalisation and questions of agency, on the underilluminated impact of globalisation on rural areas, and on the changing relationship between centres and peripheries. Other interests are popular culture, modern literary and cultural theory (in particular the work of Mikhail Bakhtin, poststructuralism, cultural analysis and gender studies), and 20th- and 21st-century English and American literature, film and television.
