Waard, Marco de (Dr.)
Marco de Waard teaches English and comparative literature at AUC. Among his courses are: Introduction to Literary and Cultural Theory, Cultural Memory Studies, and History of Ideas. He is also a research fellow at the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA), where he is completing a monograph titled "John Morley and the Uses of History in Victorian Liberal Culture" (Routledge). De Waard studied at the Universities of Amsterdam and Sheffield and holds a PhD from the European University Institute, Florence. He joined AUC in 2009 as a lecturer and tutor, and has since served as Acting Head of Studies for the Humanities (2013 and 2016), as Principal Educator (2013-2015), and as a long-term member of the Board of Examiners (2010-2016). In 2010 he received the AUC Teacher of the Year Award.
